JEREMIAH BOGART was born in Washington County Tennessee in 1847. That area of the county later became Unicoi County. He became a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church [ First Baptist Church, Erwin, TN] in Feb. of 1865. He was a Civil War veteran, Pvt. in A Co., 3rd, NC Mtd. Inf. (Union) from Sep 3, 1864 to Aug 8, 1865. He was discharged in Knoxville, TN with "phthisic and diarrhoea" (sic) (TB?), and was listed as 5 feet 5 inches tall, fair complexion, blue eyes, light hair. Source: 1890, Civil War Veterans Census - Tennessee and Washington Co., TN Court Discharge Records, 1865, p. 63 . He joined the army with some of his ERWIN family cousins and served under Col. G. W. Kirk. He was 17 years old at the time he joined the army. After the war, JEREMIAH spent the remainder of his life in Erwin TN dying at the age of 48( cause of death thought to have been TB). He was first buried in a family cemetery near BOGART Hill in Erwin. His body was later moved to Evergreen Cemetery in Erwin. He was a member of the Masons. In the 1880 census he and Sara Florence are living next to his mother, Mary ERWIN BOGART.

JAMES ROBERT YOUNG was the only child of HUGH P. YOUNG, JR. and MARY ANN CARATHERS YOUNG. In the 1900 Unicoi Co, TN Census, ROBERT and family are living in Erwin, TN. However, he and his wife lived most of their lives in the Cherokee area of Washington Co. TN.[ now Greenwood Drive]. Their son, CARL bought the farm from them. BOB died in Johnson City, TN.,and is buried there in the Monte Vista Cemetery. In the 1923-24, Johnson City Directory, JAMES ROBERT is listed as a mill owner, living at 407 Hamilton Av., JC, TN. BOB and IDA once moved to the state of MO, however, they were not successful farming there, and returned to TN. YOUNG Jr., as being in the 60th Tennessee Mounted Infantry, Confederate Army. He died Jan. 27, 1863, at Jackson MS, and is buried at Shiloh, MS. YOUNG, Sr. and family lived on the farm where his parents had lived (deed from father, JOHN YOUNG, Jr. to HUGH in 1830, is proof of father/son relationship) in the Knob Creek area of Washington Co., TN( now Mountain View Road). One land purchase was in 1829 from Wm. and Mary Melvin on the waters of Knob Creek. He was a farmer, owned a number of slaves, and operated a saw mill. First marriage to ESTHER BEARD resulted in 12 children (including HUGH, Jr.). Second marriage to Letty Helton resulted in 5 children. 1850 WA. Co., TN. Census states farm value at $1540.00. Hugh and Esther died in WA. Co.,TN. HUGH is listed in the 1880 Census as suffering from heart palpitation, and died a short time later. Children are listed in HUGH P. 's will of 1880, and names son, HUGH P.Jr,(dead) and his grandson(JAMES) ROBERT. ESTHER and HUGH Sr. are thought to be buried in the cemetery at Boones Creek Christian Church, in unmarked graves. JOHN YOUNG, SR. is thought to have been born about 1745. He lived in Augusta Co., VA., buying land on the forks of the James River from his father, ROBERT YOUNG Sr. JOHN was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, fighting at the Battle of Kings Mountain. In what is now Tennessee, he received Land Grant #566, Deed Book 5, pp.116-117, Washington Co. TN. Deeds, among other deeds. He was owner of large tracts of land in the Knob Creek area of Washington Co.(present location of the General Shale Building on n. Roan Street) , and the present Gump Addition in Johnson City. He married ISABELL CUNNINGHAM, daughter of HUGH & SARAH ???DAVIS CUNNINGHAM. The Botetourt Co., VA., will of HUGH CUNNINGHAM names daughter, ISIBIL, and JOHN YOUNG is an executor. JOHN"s will list his children, one being JOHN YOUNG, Jr. He died in WA. Co., TN, but his palce of burial is unknown. JOHN was listed in his father, ROBERT YOUNG Sr.'s will (WA. Co.
